Unicorn Jewellery Dishes
We went through an extended unicorn phase in our house. In fact, I think I'm the only one who hasn't come out the other side of it ;) (I don't intend to, either. Unicorns FOREVER.) Needless to say, in the peak of our unicorn obsession (when it was a full-force, three female run), we did a plethora of unicorn crafting. These jewellery dishes are just one of the many unicorn crafts that we enjoyed together! WHAT YOU NEED: plastic unicorn figurines gold acrylic paint white plate

Cork Circle Snowflakes
You never know what you're going to find in our basement. It's where all things are saved for future craft projects, whether Phil agrees with this storage practice or not ;) On a recent basement adventure, we found cork circles from a previous night sky creation. With slippers on our feet and hot drinks in our mugs, we decided a wintery art project was in order :) WHAT YOU NEED: cork circles white acrylic paint strips of felt, foam, ribbon, yarn (blue, silver & white) push pi

Really Pretty 3D Snowflakes
This project is one that gets me super pumped up! I've done this with kindergarteners all the way to highschoolers and the engagement remained peaked for all ages. These very special crafts (do you know how rare that is?!) must be savoured and shared ;) WHAT YOU NEED: styrofoam balls wire scissors hot glue in a blue and white palette: pipecleaners beads felt pieces cut up straws push pins HOW TO MAKE: Begin by covering your styrofoam ball with felt pieces, adhering them to th

Snowy Cityscapes
I have an ongoing debate in my brain over whether I like cool colours or warm colours more. Whenever we do an art project with cool colours, I'm CONVINCED they are the winners. But, then I go and do a project with warm colours and I'm unsure once again. Regardless, this cool colour art project has us smiling ear to ear! The palette is eye candy and the process lends itself well to a haphazard approach. BONUS, BONUS! WHAT YOU NEED: white paper (we used size 11 by 17) sponges

Mixed Media Snowstorms
This is one of those art projects that spans the ages! It doesn't matter if the artist is 2 or 42, it's going to turn out. And it's going to be EPIC! There's zero stress, zero rules, and zero snow to shovel afterwards ;) WHAT YOU NEED: cardboard pieces aluminum foil tape white and blue paint white glue silver, blue and white items (feathers, gems, felt, pom-poms, ribbon, paper, etc.) scissors HOW TO MAKE: Wrap squares or rectangles of cardboard using aluminum foil. (Extra Large!) Popsicle Stick Snowflakes
When the girls were younger, we lived in the Middle East where snow was an impossibility. The girls hoped for snow as we travelled to Budapest, Helsinki, Prague, and so on during winter holidays, but the sprinkling we experienced was never the same as the snow play Canada offered. And so, as we often do, we problem-solved with crafting and made a "winter wonderland" with friends in our desert courtyard. WHAT YOU NEED: popsicle sticks hot glue paint or crayons/markers white gl

NYE Paper Scrap Art (a wishing wand in a firework sky!)
Our "collage" bin, as we lovingly call it, is filled to the brim with many different scraps of art materials. It's mostly paper of all-sorts (cardstock, glitter, wrapping, etc), with some ribbon and foam pieces scattered in there too! Going through this bin and exploring it's contents is an activity in itself, but it's even more exciting when an art idea strikes from this casual peruse. This is a glimpse into how my brain works: WHAT IF WE MADE FIREWORKS (btw, most ideas come

New Year's Eve Disco Balls
Ask me to leave the house on NYE and it's an immediate NOPE. Ask me to do a craft that involves sparkly things and the answer is an immediate LET'S GOOOOO!!!!! I'm so happy the girls are still happy to do the same ;) If you're looking for an artsy evening in, consider finding all-things-silver in your house to create these fabulous disco balls! WHAT YOU NEED: iridescent or silver cardstock white glue silver materials (e.g. beads, wrapping paper scraps, aluminum foil, glitter

Rainbow Snowflake Winter Art
Once Christmas is put away, I always feel like the house looks a little sad. So many colourful, sparkly and joyful things are tucked away and there's a sort of emptiness that lingers. The good news is we have the power to change the vibe and this art project will do just that! BRING ON THE RAINBOW SNOWFLAKES!!!!!! WHAT YOU NEED: watercolour paper pencil snowflake tracers (we used our Cricut to create ours!) Crayola washable markers water and paintbrush HOW TO MAKE: Trace sn

Taylor Swift Halloween Art
Creatively, this whole process was a BLAST. Choosing savage lyrics, matching them with haunted house portraits, as well as images of Taylor herself.....it was so freaking fun! Terry Fox Modeling Clay Art
Terry Fox is a Canadian Hero and we look forward to participating in the Terry Fox Run every fall. Toronto Blue Jays Paper Craft
Friends, I went from caring less about baseball to staying awake until 2am (on a school night!!!!) cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays. I learned their names, researched their stories & stats, Googled spitters and sinkers, and needed tissues beside me during most games. Their heart. Their perseverance. Their team spirit. Their bedazzled home run jacket. Their fan community. Their ability to make friends out of strangers in passing. Their impact on our togetherness as a nation.
