Paper Strip Apples

You've heard of honeycrisp, gala, granny smith, fuji, and mcintosh....but have you heard of......PAPER STRIP?! These apples just might be my very favourite ;)

This sweet-and-can-be-sparkly back-to-school art project involves sorting rectangles by size to create an apple shape! We also stamped the word "fall" onto our art because letters really are all around us ;)

WHAT YOU NEED:

• a variety of red paper, cut into strips

• green paper, cut into a leaf shape

• brown paper, cut into a stem shape

• white cardstock (cut in half)

• glue stick

• letter stamps (F, A, L)

• ink pad

HOW TO MAKE:

1. Provide artists with white cardstock and various strips of red paper. Encourage them to create an apple shape by arranging their paper strips from small to big and then back to small again. Most artists used 5 or 6 strips in total.

2. Artists will glue their paper strips onto their piece of white cardstock, followed by a stem and leaf on top.

3. Students will stamp the word "fall" onto their art piece, wherever there is a blank space for letters :)

I love how they are unique and I look forward to providing EVEN MORE varieties of red paper (think: patterned!) when I repeat this activity next year :)
