Texture Printed Apples

Confession: I closely associate apples with an alphabet song that we play daily in my Kindergarten classroom. I cannot see an apple, eat an apple, shop for apples, or hear the word apple without hearing "A IS FOR APPLE, Ah, Ah, Ah-pple!" in my head. I will spare you the earworm by NOT including the YouTube link here. You're welcome ;)

Let's talk about these cutie apples!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • any circular, textured surface that you don't mind painting (we used a cut-up placemat from Dollarama!)

  • red paint

  • paint brush

  • white paper

  • red paper

  • scissors

  • green and brown paper (we used foam!)

  • black Sharpie or Posca Marker (we used Posca!)

  • googly eyes

  • glue

  • glitter (we haaaaaaad to!)

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Prepare your textured surface. We had to trim our placemat to fit the paper we were using! Also, a moment of appreciation for this texture:

2) Paint the entire textured surface with red paint.

3) Press your white paper on top of the painted surface, making sure to press evenly so the entire circle is transferred. It should look something like this, TA-DA:

4) Allow your print to dry.

5) Cut your print and paste it onto a red, circular background (if you wish!)

6) Use glue to add a brown stem, a green leaf and googly eyes.

7) Add a smile using a black marker.

8) Totally optional, but we love our glitter over here! Can we interest you in some glittery cheeks? ;)

I love their unique expressions - each one with it's own personality.

I think pumpkins might be next. Because, AGAIN, a moment of appreciation for that texture!!!!

Happy creating, friends!
