SNAP WORD COOKIES

Homeschooling isn’t easy, mamas! We quickly learned that if we were going to achieve anything productive during the school’s closure, we had to get creative with the girls! Hence, SNAP WORD PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES!

Learning snap words is much more fun when it comes with dessert

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • your favourite peanut butter cookie recipe (and ingredients!)

  • letters and numbers cake message stamp set

  • a list of your child’s snap words

HOW TO MAKE:

  1. Follow your favourite recipe to make the cookies! If the recipe tells you to do the traditional peanut butter cookie squash, IGNORE THAT PART

  2. While the cookies are in the oven, assemble your child’s snap words using your message stamp set.

  3. Remove the cookies from the oven and stamp them gently to create imprints of the desired snap words.

ACTIVITY EXTENSIONS:

  • Stamp your cookies with word families or phonics concepts.

  • Stamp your cookies with numbers for number recognition!

  • Explore this activity with a different cookie recipe!

CONNECTION STARTERS:

  • What snap words do you see in the recipe?

  • Do you see a word that you’d like to turn into a snap word?

  • Do you know any songs about your snap words?

  • Can you please serve me a cookie with the snap word _____________?

  • Tell me what snap words on are the cookies you chose!

THINGS TO CELEBRATE & ENCOURAGE:

  • identifying snap words in the recipe and on the cookies

  • being a helpful baking partner!

  • helping to clean up the kitchen

  • serving cookies to others

The really good thing about snap word cookies is that they are good for your brain! Ahhhh, nutrient-dense, brain-building goodness

We hope you have fun baking up some snap word cookies of your own!

Happy connecting!

XOXO,

Lindsay
