Listen, the unicorn craze isn’t going away anytime soon and our household is a really big reason why
Get out your popsicle sticks and get crafty with these Popsicle Stick Unicorns!
WHAT YOU NEED:
large popsicle sticks
hot or cool melt glue gun
white glue
paint
paintbrushes
markers
white cardstock
scissors
gold glitter paper
yarn or pipecleaners
desired embellishments: sequins, buttons, glitter, etc.
HOW TO MAKE:
Use the glue gun to stick 3 popsicle sticks together. I found it easiest to cut a popsicle stick in thirds and then glue the full-size popsicle sticks on top of these.
Paint the popsicle sticks in whichever way you like! My girls went with the rainbow theme
While the paint is drying, cut a cat-shaped head (including ears!) out of a piece of white cardstock paper.
Use markers to add eyes, a nose and a mouth to your unicorn’s face. You might also want to add some pink to the inside of the unicorn’s ears!
Cut a unicorn horn out of the gold glitter paper.
Glue the unicorn horn between the two ears.
Add embellishments to the top of the unicorn’s head using white glue.
Glue the unicorn head onto the popsicle stick body.
Create a tail using yarn or – as my youngest preferred – a pipecleaner! Use glue to adhere it to your unicorn.
If you wish, add other embellishments as a final touch!
ACTIVITY EXTENSIONS:
Write a story about your unicorn!
Use the popsicle stick base to create other characters! Can you make a bear? A puppy?
