Poppy Suncatcher

This was a great collaborative art project to have out on a Saturday afternoon. We set it up on the kitchen island and the girls and I slowly added to it as we passed by. Within a couple of hours, it was complete! It is now displayed in one of our front windows, where the sun strikes every morning :)

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • tissue paper or kite paper (we used kite paper)

  • contact paper/clear shelf liner

  • scissors

  • white paper

  • marker

  • masking tape

HOW TO MAKE:
  1. Prepare small pieces of tissue/kite paper. We cut ours into squares!

  2. Draw various poppies on white paper using a marker. Tape these down to your work surface, making sure they fit under the piece of contact paper you will be using.

  3. Tape your contact paper (sticky side up!) on top of the poppy drawings and remove the contact paper liner to reveal the sticky side :)

  1. We decided to use our red and black kite paper to make the poppies first.

  2. Once the poppies were covered, we filled in the in-between parts with various colours of kite paper.

  3. Once all spots were (mostly!) covered, we taped our artwork in a sunny window :)

I think I will have to bring this activity to school this week!

Happy creating <3

Love,

Linds
