Collage Poppy Wreath

We have an annual Remembrance Day assembly at our school and it includes a wreath laying ceremony. I was excited to work together with my three kindergarten classes to make our contribution :)
In short, each artist made their own collage poppy to contribute to the overall piece. The product was strikingly beautiful <3
WHAT YOU NEED:
cardboard
scissors
black Sharpie
various red items (felt, paper, foam, gems, etc.)
larger black items (pom-poms, buttons)
white glue
hot glue
hoop (embroidery, wooden, or cardboard - whatever you can find!)
HOW TO MAKE:
Turn on a great show or podcast to begin your cardboard cutting journey. A hot coffee would be good too! Use scissors to cut poppy-like shapes from cardboard pieces.
Outline each poppy shape with a Black Sharpie, making somewhat of a border :)
Prepare a selection of red items. I love preparing items for collaging. Doesn't this look like the best little caddy of goodness?!

Invite artists to decorate their cardboard poppy with the various red pieces. They will adhere them to their cardboard using white glue.
Once they are finished with red, they can choose a black item to glue onto the center of their poppy.
Allow poppies to dry.

The last part also involves coffee and a show. Plug in the hot glue gun and begin to arrange the single poppies onto the hoop you gathered. We used an embroidery hoop. Continue to add poppies to the overall structure, aiming to make the shape consistently circular :)
Ta-da! The kids are going to be so proud of the wreath they made together!

I'm not sure how I could possibly make a wreath as beautiful as this one! I'll be keeping this one for years to come :)
