This activity was born from an inability to leave the house during quarantine. It turns out the best creativity arises when your materials are limited
Grab some potatoes and let your kiddos go CRAZY (just kidding!) with these CRAZY Potato Sculptures!
WHAT YOU NEED:
potatoes
pipecleaners
toothpicks
hot glue
beads
foam pieces (that have been hole-punched!)
HOW TO MAKE:
Break a toothpick in half.
Prepare a pipecleaner by hot gluing half of a toothpick onto each end of the pipecleaner. This will make it easy for each artist to attach their pipecleaners to their potato!
Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have a few pipecleaners ready for each artist.
Artists will stick one end of a pipecleaner into their potato.
Next, they will add beads and foam pieces to the pipecleaner, as desired.
Artists can bend their pipecleaners to create various shapes while they work.
Once beads and foam pieces have been added, secure the other end of the pipecleaner into the potato using the hot-glued toothpick!
Repeat steps 4 to 7 until the artist says their sculpture is complete!
ACTIVITY EXTENSION:
Host a mini-art show to showcase your crazy potato sculptures!
CONNECTION STARTERS:
