Table Top Easter Tree (With Salt Dough Ornaments!)

We are firm believers in year-round, celebratory trees! In some circles, this is highly controversial (ha!), but in this beautiful, creative space, I think it's lovingly embraced <3
This tree isn't actually a tree. It's a collection of branches that we found in our yard after an ice storm! But when you put them together in a vase and then adorn the branches with ornaments, it's basically the real deal ;)
WHAT YOU NEED:
salt dough (we used THIS RECIPE)
rolling pin
egg-shaped cookie cutter
skewer
string or ribbon
acrylic paint
branches
vase
HOW TO MAKE:
Make your salt dough! Roll it out (ours were about 1 cm thick...you could definitely go thinner!)
Cut out egg shapes using your cutter. Be sure to use a skewer to poke a hole near the top of the egg. This will be used to hang the ornaments later on!
Cook your shapes according to recipe instructions.
Once the salt dough is dry (it takes time!), paint your eggs as desired. I love seeing the creativity of each artist appear during this stage :)
Once the paint has dried, thread a string through the hole to make each egg hang-able. If you're using branches like we did, this is the perfect time to go for a nature walk! Collect your sticks and arrange them in a vase at home :)
Decorate your tree!

Oh how I love a family crafternoon! And I love bringing colour to the muddy and rainy days of spring.
Happy creating, sweet friends!
Love,
Linds (Believer in Year-Round, Celebratory Trees)
XOXO
