Valentine's Day Suncatchers

theartstadium

When you walk in our front door, there is a window to the side that welcomes the sun inside. If we're lucky enough to be home for this, it's so exciting! And if there are suncatchers on the window, it's even more exciting!

These wax paper and crayon hearts are currently greeting the sunshine, and also the visitors that pass by the house. I like to think of it as an instant "HELLO! YOU ARE LOVED!" :) If you also have hearts in your entrance, I will likely assume the same message is being delivered to me when I visit! ;)

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • crayons

  • pencil sharpener

  • parchment paper

  • iron

  • scissors

  • tape

  • bowl of warm water

HOW TO MAKE:
  1. To easily remove the crayon wrappers, soak the crayons in warm water for a few minutes. This will make the wrappers roll right off!

  2. Use a pencil sharpener to create crayon shavings.

  3. Cut a piece of wax paper and fold it in half. Leave it laying open on your work surface. Add crayon shavings to one half of the wax paper.

  4. Fold the wax paper over (to hide the shavings) and melt the crayon shavings using an iron.

  5. Allow to cool.

  6. The wax paper halves will be stuck together! You may choose to draw hearts that you will cut out or cut the hearts out, freestyle!

  7. Stick your hearts to a sunny window using tape.

*** All of these steps are showcased in the reel below <3

I think we will need to replace these ones with shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day! Shades of green would like very delightful come spring :)

Sending lots of love to you, my artsy friends <3

Love, Linds XOXO
