Garlic Press Coral Reef

Have you ever seen anything more dreamy than this garlic press coral reef? Also known as the "everything is from the dollar store" coral reef ;) It's engaging, affordable, and has a serious wow-factor! Anddddd......you get to skip the whole scuba diving, wet suit, watch-out-for-sharks thing. It's WIN/WIN/WIN!!!!
WHAT YOU NEED:
a tray or work surface (we liked using a tray so we could transport it to the shady spots outside!)
modelling clay
gems and shells
garlic press
HOW TO MAKE:
Break up the modelling clay into smaller pieces. I rolled each piece into a small ball so they were ready to be loaded into the garlic press!
If they are unfamiliar, show the artists how to use the garlic press. I promise lots of ohhhhh's and ahhhhh's during this demo. You're a fabulous, magical, ART QUEEN!
Encourage the artists to expore the different colours of clay. What happens if they (gasp! mwaaa haaa haa!) mix the clay?! How can they make coral structures of different sizes?
Invite them to add gems, shells, or even ocean creatures to their working canvas.
Ta-da. Maybe this one calls for a parade. Grab your tray and call for the masses! It's just that epic.

Pretty sure we're going to be making more of these beauties. Imagine a Barbie themed version?! All shades of pink, Barbie miniatures?! I'm onto something....
GTG!
